Aalto 2018

Aalto 2018 is a powerful yet beautifully balanced Ribera del Duero red made entirely from Tempranillo, showcasing the depth and precision that have made the estate one of Spain’s most respected names. Sourced from a combination of old vines on leased plots and younger vines from Bodegas Aalto’s own vineyards in Valladolid, it brings together concentration, freshness, and structure in a very polished style. The wine reflects the character of Castilla y León while carrying the modern signature of a producer that has helped define quality-driven Ribera del Duero.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, Aalto 2018 shows an intense dark cherry colour that hints at its concentration. The nose is generous and layered, with ripe dark berries, warming spice, and subtle toasted notes from oak ageing. On the palate, it is full-bodied and elegant, with mature fruit, integrated tannins, and flavours of liquorice, coffee, tobacco, and vanilla. The 2018 vintage shows impressive harmony and structure, and it has clear ageing potential for those who want to cellar it and watch its complexity unfold over time.

Viininvalmistus
Aalto 2018 is made from 100% Tempranillo sourced in Ribera del Duero, with fruit coming from old vines aged 40 to 80 years on leased vineyards as well as younger vines from Bodegas Aalto’s own holdings in Valladolid. The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully sorted to ensure only the best fruit reaches vinification. The wine is then aged for 16 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels, both new and used, adding depth, spice, and finesse without overpowering the fruit.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an excellent match for grilled or roasted beef, lamb, game, and rich aged cheeses. Serve it at 16–18 °C to bring out its aromatic depth and balance. Decanting is recommended, especially if enjoyed young, to allow the wine to open fully and reveal its layers of fruit, spice, and oak.
