Alion 2018 Dobbeltmagnum 300CL

Alion 2018 in double magnum is a striking expression of Ribera del Duero, crafted by Bodegas Alion, the modern and highly regarded sister project of Vega Sicilia. Made from carefully selected parcels and low-yielding Tinto Fino vines, this is a wine built on precision, concentration and elegance, with the added advantage of exceptional ageing potential. The 2018 vintage is described by Vega Sicilia as both powerful and sensual, with a refined, stylish edge.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, Alion 2018 shows the deep, concentrated colour you would expect from a serious Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero. The nose is layered and expressive, with ripe dark fruit, subtle spice and well-integrated oak shaping an aromatic profile that feels both generous and polished. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and concentrated, yet finely balanced, with dark berry fruit, firm structure and a smooth, elegant texture. The new French oak ageing adds depth and complexity without overwhelming the fruit. Thanks to its concentration and structure, this 2018 vintage can develop beautifully over the next 20 years from harvest.

Viininvalmistus
Alion comes from selected vineyard parcels in Ribera del Duero, in Castilla y León, where the continental climate and high-altitude vineyards help shape wines with freshness, intensity and tannic backbone. The Tempranillo, known locally as Tinto Fino, is sourced from vines aged around 25 to 30 years, and harvesting takes place earlier than for Vega Sicilia to preserve freshness and definition. The wine is then aged for 16 months in new oak barrels, a key part of its structure and signature style.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a wine that pairs beautifully with rich dishes such as roast lamb, grilled ribeye, game, braised beef or mature hard cheeses. Serve it at around 16-18°C to let the aromas and structure show at their best. A short decant is recommended, especially if enjoyed young, to help the wine open up and soften.
