Alter Ego De Château Palmer 2001

Alter Ego de Château Palmer 2001 is the estate’s second wine, but it carries far more pedigree and depth than that label might suggest. Crafted from younger vines and with a more restrained use of oak, it still offers the structure, concentration, and longevity associated with one of Margaux’s most revered names.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this Bordeaux shows a deep garnet core with the first signs of maturity at the rim. The nose is expressive and layered, with dark berries, plum, cedar, tobacco leaf, violets, and a subtle earthy spice, gradually opening with time in the glass. On the palate, it is rich and polished, combining Cabernet Sauvignon’s frame, Merlot’s suppleness, and Petit Verdot’s spice and depth. The wine feels muscular yet refined, with fine-grained tannins, fresh acidity, and a long, persistent finish. While already enjoyable, it has the structure to age gracefully for many more years.

Alter Ego is produced from younger vines at Château Palmer in Margaux, where the gravelly terroir of Bordeaux’s Left Bank lends elegance, freshness, and aromatic complexity to the blend. The grapes are carefully harvested and vinified with the estate’s trademark attention to detail, with less new oak used than for the grand vin, allowing the fruit to remain vivid while still preserving depth, balance, and aging potential.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs beautifully with roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, game birds, or truffle-infused dishes, as well as aged hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if drinking now, especially to soften the tannins and reveal its full aromatic range.
