Makuprofiili
In the glass, Optima 2020 typically shows a deep ruby to garnet colour with a concentrated core. The nose is layered and inviting, offering ripe dark berries, plum, and subtle spice, with hints of cedar, graphite, and dried herbs adding complexity. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied with supple tannins and a fresh line of acidity that keeps everything in balance. Flavours of blackcurrant, black cherry, and dark chocolate are supported by savoury notes and a refined, lingering finish. It should age well for several years, gaining further nuance and softness with bottle development.

As a South African red blend, Optima benefits from the diverse terroirs associated with the country’s premium wine-growing areas, where warm days and cooler influences help preserve fruit purity and freshness. Grapes are typically harvested at optimal ripeness to ensure balance between concentration and acidity, then vinified with careful extraction to build texture and structure while retaining elegance. The wine is usually matured in oak to add complexity, polish, and integration.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, grilled beef, venison, or rich mushroom dishes, as well as hard cheeses and hearty Mediterranean-style fare. Serve at around 16–18°C to bring out its aromatic depth and balance. Decanting for 30–60 minutes is recommended if enjoyed young, as it will help the wine open up and soften the tannins.
