Arnot-Roberts Trousseau 2023

Arnot-Roberts Trousseau 2023 is a rare and highly distinctive red wine that brings one of Jura’s classic grapes into a fresh Californian context. Sourced from select vineyards in California and crafted with Arnot-Roberts’ signature restraint, it stands out for its light frame, bright acidity, and unusually layered aromatics. Trousseau is a historic French variety long associated with the Jura, and this bottling is a compelling modern expression of a grape still rarely seen outside its traditional home.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine shows a pale, translucent ruby hue that hints at its delicate style. The nose is vivid and expressive, with cranberry, raspberry, green bell pepper, liquorice, and clove lifting from the glass. On the palate, it is bright and elegant rather than weighty, unfolding with notes of dried strawberry, cherry tart, ripe pear, fresh sage, and bay leaf. At just 12% alcohol, it feels effortless yet complex, with a lively, food-friendly structure and a refined finish. While enjoyable now, it also has the balance to develop gracefully over the next few years.

Viininvalmistus
The fruit for this wine comes from a small number of California vineyards, including Luchsinger, Bahon Ranch, and Bartolomei, where Trousseau has found a rare but promising home. The grapes are whole-cluster pressed, then matured partly in neutral French oak and partly in stainless steel to preserve freshness and detail. It is bottled without fining or filtration, keeping the wine as pure and transparent as possible.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a superb match for poultry, especially roast chicken, guinea fowl, or duck served with herbs, as well as mushroom dishes, charcuterie, and lighter game. Serve slightly chilled, around 14–16°C, to bring out its brightness and aromatic lift. Decanting is not essential, though a short aeration can help the wine open up if served young.
