Artadi Vinas de Gain 2019

Artadi Viñas de Gain 2019 is a refined Rioja red that captures the elegance and precision for which the estate is known. Made entirely from Tempranillo sourced from Artadi’s own high-altitude vineyards in Rioja Alavesa, it combines freshness, depth, and a clear sense of place. The wine reflects both the character of one of Spain’s most respected terroirs and Artadi’s modern, terroir-driven approach to winemaking.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby-red colour that hints at its concentration and vitality. The nose is expressive and layered, with ripe red berries, plum, dried herbs, and a subtle cedar note that adds finesse. The palate is full-bodied yet beautifully balanced, with silky tannins and a fresh line of acidity that keeps everything focused. Flavours of dark and red fruit unfold alongside mineral nuances, gentle spice, and a long, elegant finish. While it is already enjoyable now, it has the structure and harmony to age gracefully over the next several years.

Viininvalmistus
Viñas de Gain 2019 comes from Artadi’s own vineyards in Rioja Alavesa, planted at 450 to 600 metres above sea level on limestone-rich soils. The vineyards benefit from the cooling influence of the Atlantic, which helps preserve acidity and aromatic complexity in the Tempranillo grapes. Harvesting is done by hand to ensure only the best fruit is selected, followed by careful vinification and around 12 months of ageing in French oak, including a portion of new barrels, to add texture, structure, and subtle spice.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs beautifully with grilled lamb, game, smoked cheeses, and rich stews, where its depth and freshness can complement hearty flavours. Serve it at around 16–18°C for the best expression of its aromas and structure. Decanting for an hour or so is recommended if you want to soften the tannins and open up the wine’s more nuanced layers.
