Château Cos d'Estournel 1986

Château Cos d'Estournel 1986 is a superbly mature Saint-Estèphe that shows why this second-growth estate is so highly regarded in Bordeaux. With its deep structure, refined balance and remarkable complexity, it offers a beautifully evolved expression of Cabernet Sauvignon-led Bordeaux from one of the region’s most distinctive châteaux.

In the glass, the wine presents a dark ruby core with gentle brownish reflections, a clear sign of its age and evolution. The nose is layered and expressive, unfolding with blackcurrant, plum, cedar, tobacco, leather and earthy nuances, all wrapped in a sense of classic Bordeaux maturity. On the palate, it remains impressively full and structured, with silky tannins that are now fully integrated. Ripe dark fruit is supported by notes of spice, chocolate and a faint smoky edge, leading to a long, lingering finish. While it is ready to drink now, it still has the depth and balance to continue developing gracefully for some time if stored properly.
