La Closerie de Camensac is the second wine of Château de Camensac, offering an appealing entry into the elegance and structure of Haut-Médoc. Made from selected fruit from younger vines, it reflects the estate’s strong value-for-money reputation while still carrying the classic Bordeaux character that has made Camensac a respected name in the region.

In the glass, this 2021 Haut-Médoc typically shows a deep ruby colour with youthful brightness. The nose is likely to open with blackcurrant, plum and ripe cherry, layered with subtle notes of cedar, graphite and a touch of spice from its oak élevage. On the palate, Cabernet Sauvignon brings structure and freshness, while Merlot adds roundness and supple fruit. Expect a medium-bodied wine with fine tannins, balanced acidity and a refined, straightforward style that makes it approachable in youth but capable of developing further character over the next few years.

After harvest, the wine is matured in stainless steel and cement vats before being refined in oak barrels, a method that helps preserve fruit purity while adding texture and subtle complexity.

This wine pairs beautifully with roast lamb, grilled steak, duck breast, mushroom dishes and hard cheeses such as Comté or aged Gouda. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 30 minutes to help the aromas open up and soften the tannins.
