Château d'Yquem 2016 37,5CL

Château d’Yquem is the benchmark for fine sweet wine, and the 2016 vintage in 37.5cl format offers a chance to experience one of Bordeaux’s most legendary estates in an elegant half-bottle. Made from Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, it combines extraordinary concentration, freshness, and complexity, with the kind of balance that has made Yquem famous for over four centuries. As the only estate in Sauternes to hold Premier Cru Supérieur status from the 1855 Classification, it stands alone at the summit of dessert wine.

Makuprofiili
Pale lemon-gold in the glass, this vintage opens with lifted aromas of honeyed apricot, pineapple, green mango, citrus peel, candied ginger, crushed stone, and orange blossom. There is an immediate sense of purity and energy on the nose, with a mineral edge that keeps the richness poised rather than heavy. On the palate, the wine is tightly wound and remarkably vibrant, showing layer upon layer of spice, citrus, tropical fruit, and saline minerality around a core of beautifully integrated sweetness. The finish is long, precise, and persistent, with enough freshness to suggest exceptional aging potential over decades.

Viininvalmistus
Château d’Yquem is located on the highest hill in Sauternes, where the elevated site and surrounding microclimate create ideal conditions for noble rot, or botrytis cinerea, to develop on the grapes. The 2016 blend is based on Sémillon with Sauvignon Blanc, both harvested by hand in multiple passes to select only fully botrytised berries at perfect ripeness. The resulting fruit is vinified with meticulous care to preserve freshness, fragrance, and the extraordinary concentration that defines the estate’s style.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Best served slightly chilled, around 10–12°C, this wine is superb with foie gras, blue cheese, tarte Tatin, peach or apricot desserts, and fine pastries with almond or vanilla. It can also be enjoyed beautifully on its own as a contemplative finish to a meal. Decanting is not usually necessary for a young bottle, but a brief airing in the glass can help раскры the aromatics.
