Château Haut-Bailly 2019

Château Haut-Bailly 2019 is a beautifully poised red from one of Graves’ most historic estates, offering the finesse and energy that have made this château a benchmark in Pessac-Léognan. Made predominantly from Cabernet Sauvignon with Cabernet Franc playing a supporting role in the blend, it combines precision, depth, and remarkable freshness in a style that reflects both the property’s long heritage and its modern exacting standards.

In the glass, the wine shows a vivid ruby-red color with remarkable clarity. The nose is refined and expressive, opening with floral nuances alongside dark fruit, subtle graphite, and a lifted freshness that immediately draws you in. On the palate, Château Haut-Bailly 2019 is smooth, detailed, and finely textured, with plenty of energy and a bright, mouthwatering acidity that keeps the wine lively from start to finish. A chalky mineral edge adds definition and balance, while the structure suggests excellent aging potential; it can certainly be enjoyed now, but it has the depth and harmony to evolve gracefully over many years.

Viininvalmistus
Château Haut-Bailly sits on a gently undulating site at the gateway to Bordeaux, in the heart of Pessac-Léognan on the left bank of the Garonne. The estate’s 30 hectares benefit from varied elevations and a mix of parcel exposures, creating different levels of water stress and contributing to complexity in the final wine; some of the vines are over 100 years old. The vintage was crafted with careful parcel selection and traditional Bordeaux vinification aimed at preserving purity, structure, and finesse.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs beautifully with roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, or rich mushroom dishes, as well as aged hard cheeses. Serve it at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if enjoying it young to let the aromatics and texture fully open up.

Château Haut-Bailly has roots going back to the 16th century, when the Goyanèche and Daitze families began assembling some of Graves’ best vineyard land. The estate rose to particular prominence under Alcide Bellot des Minières in the 19th century, when it achieved a reputation that placed it alongside the great first growths in price and prestige. Classified as a Cru Classé de Graves in 1953, the château has remained one of the region’s most respected names, and under modern ownership it has continued to build on that legacy with major investment and a consistently celebrated style.
