Château Hosanna 2005

Château Hosanna 2005 is a rare and highly sought-after Pomerol, produced in tiny quantities from just 4.5 hectares in one of Bordeaux’s most prestigious vineyard sites. Positioned on the central plateau among illustrious neighbors such as Lafleur, Pétrus, and La Fleur-Pétrus, it combines the depth and richness of Pomerol with the lift and complexity of old-vine Cabernet Franc.

In the glass, it shows a deep, dense purple hue, hinting at its concentration and power. The bouquet is strikingly expressive, unfolding with blue and black fruits, blackberry, floral notes, licorice, dark chocolate, and truffle, all carried by a refined aromatic complexity that has long impressed critics. The palate is full-bodied, velvety, and multi-layered, with tightly knit yet polished tannins that give the wine both structure and grace. Rich and powerful, it has a long, caressing finish and is drinking beautifully now, though it still has the substance to age for another decade or more with ease.

Viininvalmistus
Château Hosanna is rooted in Pomerol’s distinctive blue clay soils, underpinned by the iron-rich subsoil known as crasse de fer, a terroir that helps give the wine its signature depth and mineral complexity. The vineyard is planted mainly to Merlot, with Cabernet Franc from old vines—some dating back to 1956—bringing aromatic precision and added dimension. Harvesting is done by hand, and the fruit is rigorously sorted twice, both manually and optically, before vinification at La Fleur-Pétrus under the stewardship of Établissements Jean-Pierre Moueix.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a superb match for roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, veal, or game dishes such as venison, as well as truffle-infused preparations and rich mushroom dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C; decanting for one to two hours is recommended if opening now, especially to allow the wine’s aromatic layers and silky structure to fully unfold.

Château Hosanna is a relatively new name in Pomerol, created after the Moueix and Delon families acquired Château Certan-Giraud in 1999 and restructured its vineyard holdings. Despite its recent origins, it quickly established a serious reputation, earning outstanding critical acclaim from the very first vintage and securing its place among the appellation’s notable estates. Today, it is regarded as a small but important jewel within Pomerol, producing wines of impressive character, pedigree, and longevity.
