Château Lafite Rothschild 1959 is one of the most celebrated wines ever to come from Pauillac, and a benchmark for mature Bordeaux of extraordinary class. This is a wine of classic mature Bordeaux beauty, with a deep garnet core that may now show gentle brick tones at the rim. The bouquet is famously layered and expressive, unfolding with black truffle, cedar, lead pencil, dried flowers, red berries, tobacco, and subtle earthy notes, all wrapped in an unmistakable sense of refinement. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, silky in texture, and exceptionally pure, with concentrated fruit, polished tannins, and a long, resonant finish. Even at full maturity, the wine retains energy and structure, and the 1959 vintage has long been praised for its capacity to age gracefully for decades.

Château Lafite Rothschild is located in Pauillac, in the heart of Bordeaux’s Médoc, where gravelly soils and a maritime climate help produce wines of precision, lift, and longevity. The estate follows traditional, meticulous viticulture with strict yield control, hand harvesting, and careful vineyard work throughout the year, while relying on limited chemical intervention and thoughtful use of organic fertilization to preserve vine health and age. For the Grand Vin, grapes are selected from some of the estate’s oldest and best-situated parcels, with the overall vineyard planted primarily to Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. Vinification is carried out with great care to preserve purity, structure, and the signature Lafite finesse.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Best enjoyed with refined dishes that match its elegance, such as roast lamb, beef fillet, game birds, truffle risotto, or slow-braised veal. Serve at around 16–18°C, and if the bottle is in good condition and sediment is present, a gentle decant shortly before serving can help reveal its full aromatic depth without stripping away maturity.
