Château Lafite Rothschild 1987 comes from one of the most legendary estates in Bordeaux, a name long associated with refinement, prestige, and exceptional ageing potential. While the 1987 vintage is known for being more restrained than the great power vintages of the estate, it still shows the elegant, classical style that has made Lafite one of the most sought-after wines in the world.

Makuprofiili
This wine typically shows a mature, garnet-tinged colour with a fading ruby core, reflecting its age. On the nose, subtle aromas of cedar, pencil shavings, dried leaves, vanillin oak, and red fruit begin to unfold, though in a vintage like 1987 the bouquet is more delicate than expansive. On the palate, the wine is light to medium-bodied, with a soft, supple texture, lively acidity, and gentle tannins that have largely resolved with time. The finish is elegant rather than powerful, and while the 1987 vintage was never among Lafite’s most famous, it has had the structure to develop further in bottle and can continue to offer nuance for mature wine lovers.

Château Lafite Rothschild is located in Pauillac, in the Médoc district of Bordeaux, on gravelly soils that are ideally suited to Cabernet-based wines. The estate is known for its strict yield control, manual harvesting, and careful vineyard work carried out with minimal intervention, allowing old vines to express the character of the site with precision. Vinification follows a traditional, meticulous approach designed to preserve finesse, balance, and the estate’s signature aromatic complexity.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Best enjoyed with refined dishes such as roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, game birds, or truffle-infused mushroom dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C. Decanting is recommended, but gently and only for a short time if the bottle is well matured, so the wine’s delicate aromas are not lost.
