Château Montrose La Dame de Montrose 2011, 2012 and 2014 is a superb mixed vintage selection from one of Saint-Estèphe’s most respected names, presented in its original wooden case with two bottles of each vintage. Crafted as the second wine of a 2ème Cru Classé estate, it offers a refined expression of Montrose’s precision, depth and aging pedigree, while remaining a little more approachable in its youth. The wine carries the hallmark seriousness of the estate, yet with a slightly more supple, generous style drawn from younger vines and meticulous selection.

Makuprofiili
La Dame de Montrose typically shows a deep ruby to purple hue, with the 2011 offering a ripe, spicy profile, the 2012 leaning into black cherry, mocha and cocoa tones, and the 2014 bringing more red cherry, bilberry and violet freshness. Across the trio, the aromatic range is classic Saint-Estèphe: dark berries, graphite, floral accents, subtle cedar and a touch of spice. On the palate, these wines are medium- to full-bodied with firm but polished tannins, lively structure and a core of ripe black and red fruit. The 2011 is the most open-knit and plush, the 2012 richer and more succulent, and the 2014 more tightly wound and linear, suggesting strong cellaring potential. Depending on the vintage, these wines should drink well now with air, but can continue to develop complexity over the next 5–10 years, and in the best cases longer.

Viininvalmistus
Produced at Château Montrose in Saint-Estèphe, the wine comes from carefully selected younger vines grown on the estate’s gravelly, well-drained soils with clay subsoils that help retain moisture during dry periods. The vineyard is managed with increasing emphasis on sustainable practices, and all harvesting is done by hand. Grapes are then double-sorted, first mechanically and then by hand, before gentle pressing and a long, temperature-controlled maceration of around 25 days. The wine is matured for approximately 12 months in barrel, with about 30% new oak, allowing the fruit, structure and freshness to remain at the forefront.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an excellent match for roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, game birds, braised short ribs or earthy mushroom dishes, as well as aged hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C. Decant younger bottles, especially the 2011 and 2014, for one to two hours to allow the wine to open and soften; the more evolved 2012 may need less time, depending on age and storage.
