Colgin IX Estate Napa Valley Syrah 2015 is a striking, 100% Syrah expression from one of Napa Valley’s most celebrated estates. Grown on Colgin’s own IX Estate vineyard atop Pritchard Hill, it combines Rhône-inspired elegance with the depth, power, and polish that have made Colgin a benchmark for luxury California wine.

In the glass, the wine shows a very deep garnet-purple color, hinting at its concentration and intensity. The bouquet is layered and expressive, with dark cherry, black plum, mulberry, blackberry, black pepper, violets, orange blossom, smoked meat, pencil shavings, chocolate, star anise, and sandalwood. The palate is full-bodied, richly textured, and deeply perfumed, with abundant black fruit framed by peppery spice and savory, meaty undertones. Despite its size, the wine retains a refined, silky feel and impressive length. It is beautifully drinkable now, but has the structure and concentration to evolve gracefully for at least another 10 years.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from Colgin’s IX Estate vineyard on Pritchard Hill, a high-elevation site in Napa Valley known for its dramatic terrain and premium growing conditions. The vineyard benefits from a distinctive hillside terroir, with meticulous vineyard management overseen by David Abreu, and the Syrah plantings were selected from top Rhône clones, including Côte-Rôtie and Hermitage material. Fermentation is carried out at around 20°C, followed by two years of maturation in entirely new oak barrels, giving the wine its depth, polish, and layered complexity.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Syrah is a superb match for grilled lamb, slow-roasted beef, venison, braised short ribs, or rich dishes featuring mushrooms, black olives, and herbs. It also pairs beautifully with hard aged cheeses and savory charcuterie. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for 1–2 hours if opening young to allow its full aromatic complexity to unfold.
