Colgin IX Estate Red 2019

Colgin IX Estate Red 2019 is one of Napa Valley’s most sought-after estate wines, crafted from the acclaimed IX Estate on Pritchard Hill. Known for its remarkable depth, precision and longevity, it reflects the kind of world-class Cabernet Franc-led blending that has made Colgin a benchmark producer among collectors and critics alike.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a deep garnet to inky purple hue, hinting at the concentration within. The bouquet is richly layered, offering blackcurrant, blackberry, baked plum, smoked meat, dark chocolate, dried Provençal herbs, lavender and cigar box, with mineral and spice notes adding complexity. The palate is full-bodied, powerful and highly structured, yet impressively polished, with ripe tannins and vibrant acidity keeping the wine balanced and lifted. It already shows remarkable depth and seamless texture, but this is a wine built for patience; while enjoyable with ample air now, it is expected to develop beautifully over 25–30 years and can continue evolving well beyond that.

Viininvalmistus
The IX Estate sits high above Lake Hennessey on the rugged slopes of Pritchard Hill in Napa Valley, where the elevated site and exposed mountain terrain contribute to ripe fruit, natural freshness and firm structure. The estate fruit is harvested selectively by hand, and winemaking follows classic methods with careful fermentation and a long élevage of around two years in 100% new French oak barrels before bottling.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a wine that calls for rich, savory dishes such as grilled ribeye, braised short ribs, venison, lamb with herbs, or truffle-inflected mushroom dishes. Serve at 16–18°C, and decanting is highly recommended if opening young, as several hours of air will help reveal the wine’s full aromatic breadth and soften its structure.
