Cotarella Montiano 2021 is one of Lazio’s most celebrated Merlots, showing how elegant and expressive this international grape can become in central Italy. Crafted by Famiglia Cotarella at Tenuta Montiano, it combines plush fruit, refined structure, and a distinctly Italian sense of balance, making it a benchmark wine from the region.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, Montiano 2021 typically shows a deep ruby color with youthful intensity. The nose is generous and polished, offering ripe dark berries, plum, and black cherry layered with notes of spice, cocoa, tobacco, and a subtle herbal edge that reflects its Italian origins. On the palate, it is smooth and full-bodied, with supple tannins and a concentrated core of black fruit balanced by fresh acidity. The finish is long and elegant, with hints of oak spice and earthy complexity. This is a wine with good aging potential, and it should develop even greater nuance over the next several years.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a versatile and food-friendly red that pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, grilled beef, duck, game birds, and rich pasta dishes with meat ragù. It also works well with aged cheeses and truffle-based recipes. Serve at around 16-18°C, and decant for 30-60 minutes if possible to allow the wine to open fully.
