Dal Forno Amarone della Valpolicella 2003 is a powerful and highly refined expression of one of Veneto’s most celebrated wine styles. Built on meticulous grape selection and the traditional appassimento method, it combines remarkable concentration with the house’s signature precision and structure. This is an Amarone with both richness and seriousness, capturing the warmth of the vintage while remaining unmistakably Dal Forno.
Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a deep, dark ruby colour that hints at the wine’s intensity. The nose is layered and expressive, with aromas of dried fruit, cherry liqueur, ripe plums, cocoa, spice, tobacco, and a subtle mineral edge.
The palate is full-bodied and expansive, with dense dark fruit, prunes, sweet spice, chocolate, coffee, and liquorice unfolding over a core of fresh acidity and supple, mature tannins. Despite its richness, the wine retains impressive definition and balance, finishing long and lingering. While already approachable thanks to its generous maturity, it still has the structure to continue evolving in bottle for years to come.
Viininvalmistus
Produced in Veneto from hand-harvested grapes selected with exceptional care, this Amarone is made using the traditional appassimento technique, in which the grapes are dried for several months to concentrate flavour and texture. After fermentation, the wine is aged in small new French barriques, a regimen that adds polish, depth, and a darker, more brooding profile. The result is a wine that reflects both the region’s classic Amarone tradition and Dal Forno’s modern, exacting approach.
Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an ideal wine for richly flavoured dishes such as braised beef, slow-roasted game, venison, ossobuco, or mature hard cheeses. It also pairs beautifully with mushroom-based dishes and truffle risotto. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for at least one to two hours to allow the wine to fully open and reveal its complexity.
