Domaine Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon Mâcon Viré-Clessé 2016 Magnum is a beautifully matured Chardonnay from one of the Mâconnais’ most respected appellations. The magnum format adds an extra layer of finesse, allowing the wine to evolve more slowly and harmoniously, preserving freshness while deepening complexity. This is a compelling expression of Viré-Clessé, where richness, precision, and a subtle mineral edge come together with classic Burgundian elegance.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine shows a luminous golden hue that hints at its maturity and concentration. The nose is generous and layered, with aromas of ripe yellow fruits, citrus peel, white flowers, and delicate notes of honey and toasted nuts. On the palate, it is textured and intense, combining creamy breadth with bright acidity and a long, elegant mineral finish. The 2016 vintage offers both charm and structure, making this a white Burgundy that is already very expressive but still capable of further development. Thanks to the magnum format, it should continue to age gracefully, gaining more complexity and nuance over time.

Viininvalmistus
This wine comes from the Viré-Clessé appellation in the Mâconnais, an area known for producing Chardonnay with natural freshness, aromatic precision, and a distinctly mineral character. The estate follows biodynamic principles and works with minimal intervention in the cellar to preserve the pure expression of the fruit. Fermentation and aging are carried out in a combination of stainless steel and used oak barrels, adding texture and depth without masking the wine’s vibrant varietal character.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Chardonnay pairs beautifully with roast chicken, creamy poultry dishes, shellfish, lobster, grilled fish, and rich vegetarian plates such as mushroom risotto or asparagus tart. It also works well with soft cheeses like Comté or aged goat cheese. Serve at around 10–12°C, and while decanting is not essential, a short aeration can help the wine open up if it has been stored for a long time.
