Domaine du Pégaü Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée 2020 is one of the estate’s signature wines and a benchmark expression of the appellation. Built on a dominant core of Grenache, supported by Syrah and Mourvèdre plus the traditional blend of multiple grape varieties, it combines impressive depth with classic southern Rhône character and exceptional ageing potential.

In the glass, the wine shows a deep, dark colour that hints at its concentration. The nose is layered and expressive, with blackberry, dark plum, black tea, black pepper, fresh rosemary and thyme, followed with air by notes of leather and sandalwood. The palate is powerful yet refined, delivering ripe dark fruit, clove, white pepper and a continuation of the herbal aromatics from the nose. There is plenty of structure and energy here, balanced by impressive finesse, and the wine is built for the long haul. It will develop beautifully over the next 5 years and should continue to drink at a very high level for 20-25 years.

Viininvalmistus
Cuvée Réservée is crafted from a traditional Châteauneuf-du-Pape blend of 13 grape varieties, with around 80% Grenache at its core. The fruit is vinified using whole clusters, fermented in cement vats with no added yeasts, and then matured for two years in used oak barrels. This approach preserves purity of fruit and the character of the terroir while adding complexity and texture. The vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape are known for their stony soils and warm Mediterranean climate, which help produce wines of power, concentration and aromatic intensity.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a natural partner for slow-cooked lamb, beef daube, game, roasted duck or dishes with Provençal herbs and rich sauces. It also works beautifully with mature hard cheeses. Serve at around 16-18°C, and consider decanting for at least 1-2 hours if drinking young to allow the aromatics and structure to fully open.
