Domaine du Pegau’s Châteauneuf-du-Pape Réservée 2015 is a benchmark expression of the Southern Rhône and one of the estate’s most sought-after wines. Built around old-vine Grenache and complemented by the traditional mix of Châteauneuf-du-Pape varieties, it combines depth, complexity and remarkable ageing potential in a magnum-sized 300cl format. This is a classic, full-throttle cuvée from a producer long celebrated for staying true to the character of the appellation.

Deep ruby in the glass, this vintage opens with an expressive, layered nose of blackberry, dark plum, black tea, black pepper and Provençal herbs such as rosemary and thyme. With time in the glass, more savory notes emerge, including leather and sandalwood, adding extra dimension and polish. On the palate, the wine is powerful yet finely balanced, with rich dark fruit, clove, white pepper and a persistent herbal thread echoing the aromatics. The structure is impressive, with enough concentration and freshness to support long ageing. It should continue to improve over the next 5 years and remain outstanding for up to 20 years or more.

Viininvalmistus
Domaine du Pegau’s Réservée comes from Châteauneuf-du-Pape vineyards shaped by the region’s warm, sun-drenched climate and the famous galet-covered soils that help retain heat and regulate ripening. The blend is traditionally made from 13 grape varieties, though Grenache is the clear backbone here, accounting for around 80% of the cuvée. Harvesting is done carefully, and the winemaking follows a very traditional approach: whole clusters are pressed, fermentation takes place in cement vats with indigenous yeasts, and the wine is then aged for two years in used oak barrels.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an ideal partner for rich dishes such as slow-roasted lamb, game, beef stew, duck confit or herb-crusted meats, as well as mature hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C. Decanting is recommended, especially in its youth, to allow the wine’s aromatics and structure to open fully.
