In the glass, this Bonnes-Mares shows a deep, polished ruby hue with the concentration you would expect from a Grand Cru Pinot Noir. The nose opens with red cherries, blackberry, violet, and dried herbs, lifted by subtle mineral and earthy nuances that add complexity and class.
The palate is dense yet beautifully disciplined, with cool, precise fruit, vivid acidity, and fine, powdery tannins. There is real tension and drive through the finish, where chalky minerality and layered depth linger long after the wine leaves the glass. While it is already entering an early phase of maturity, this is a wine with the structure and balance to develop further over many years.
Viininvalmistus
Roumier’s parcels in Bonnes-Mares sit on a classic transitional zone between Chambolle-Musigny and Morey-Saint-Denis, where limestone and clay soils contribute both aromatic finesse and structural depth. The 2010 vintage was cool and well-balanced, with low yields that produced grapes of remarkable purity and concentration. Harvesting was done by hand with careful sorting, followed by partial destemming and extended aging in oak barrels for around 16–18 months, with only a modest proportion of new oak.
Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine is an excellent match for refined dishes such as roast duck, pigeon, venison, truffled poultry, or mushroom-based preparations. It also pairs beautifully with aged Comté, Brie de Meaux, or other earthy, savory cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if opening in its younger stage, though a careful, gentler decant is advisable if the bottle has had significant cellar age.
