Domaine G. Roumier Bonnes-Mares 2016 is a poised and intensely expressive Grand Cru Burgundy, showing the kind of depth and precision that has made the domaine legendary. Sourced from a parcel in the classic transition zone between Chambolle-Musigny and Morey-Saint-Denis, it combines the perfume and finesse of the former with the structure and depth of the latter. The 2016 vintage, marked by frost-reduced yields, delivered remarkable concentration and a wine built for long aging.

In the glass, this Bonnes-Mares shows power with an elegant, focused edge. The nose opens with dark cherry, blackcurrant and violet, layered with subtle spice and forest floor notes. On the palate, it is dense and structured, with fine but marked tannins and a cool mineral line that drives the wine toward a long, firm finish. This is a classic and still youthful Bonnes-Mares, offering intensity now but clearly designed for the cellar. Its balance of concentration, freshness and structure suggests significant aging potential, with the wine expected to evolve beautifully over many years.

Viininvalmistus
Roumier’s parcel in Bonnes-Mares sits on a distinctive terroir where light limestone and darker clay meet, giving the wine both precision and depth. The grapes were hand-harvested in a very small crop year due to frost, resulting in unusually concentrated fruit. Vinification follows the domaine’s traditional approach, with partial destemming and fermentation without additives, before maturation for 16 to 18 months in oak barrels with a moderate share of new oak to preserve purity and definition.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Best served with refined dishes such as roast duck, venison, beef tenderloin, truffle risotto or mushroom-based cuisine. Serve at around 16-18°C, and consider decanting for 1-2 hours if drinking young to help the wine open up and reveal its full aromatic complexity.
