Domaine G. Roumier Bonnes-Mares 2017

Domaine G. Roumier’s Bonnes-Mares 2017 is a beautifully poised Grand Cru Burgundy that captures both the finesse of Chambolle-Musigny and the more powerful frame of Morey-Saint-Denis. Made from old-vine Pinot Noir on a prized limestone and clay site, it is a wine of precision, depth, and quiet intensity, shaped by a long tradition of meticulous Burgundian winemaking.

In the glass, the wine shows a luminous ruby hue with the clarity and delicacy typical of top Pinot Noir. The bouquet is refined and expressive, opening with red cherry, raspberry, and floral notes, then unfolding into spice, crushed stone, and a subtle mineral edge. On the palate, it is silky and focused, with fine, ripe tannins and a fresh, vibrant line that gives the wine both elegance and drive. The finish is long and energetic, marked by purity and balance. While already harmonious in its youth, 2017 Bonnes-Mares has the structure and depth to develop beautifully over many years in bottle.

Viininvalmistus
Bonnes-Mares sits between Chambolle-Musigny and Morey-Saint-Denis, on a terroir of limestone and clay with a high proportion of stones that helps give the wine its tension and structure. Domaine G. Roumier works with old vines in this exceptional site, harvesting the grapes by hand and vinifying them traditionally with a light-touch approach. The wine is then matured for around 16–18 months in oak barrels, with a moderate share of new wood used to support the terroir without overshadowing it.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a superb match for fine game birds, duck breast, roast quail, lamb, or dishes with wild mushrooms and truffle. It also pairs well with aged cheeses such as Comté or Époisses. Serve at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the wine’s aromas and structure to fully open.
