In the glass, the wine shows a bright ruby color, leading into an expressive nose of wild raspberries, cranberries, rose petals, and a subtle touch of spice from oak. The tannins are fine and well-integrated, supporting an elegant, persistent finish. “Les Damodes” sits on limestone-rich soils in the northern reaches of Nuits-Saint-Georges, where the higher elevation and proximity to Vosne-Romanée help shape a more aromatic and refined style of Pinot Noir. The 2023 vintage benefited from a balanced growing season with good ripening and fresh acidity. The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted, then vinified with partial whole clusters to enhance structure and aromatic complexity. Fermentation is spontaneous, followed by 12–14 months of ageing in French oak barrels, with only a small proportion of new oak to preserve purity of fruit and terroir expression.

This wine pairs beautifully with roast duck, guinea fowl, mushroom risotto, veal, or grilled salmon, as well as dishes featuring earthy ingredients such as morels or truffles. Serve slightly cool, ideally around 15–16°C, and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes if opening young to help the aromatics unfold.
