Failla Estate Vineyard Pinot Noir 2019 is a beautifully poised California Pinot Noir shaped by one of the region’s coolest estate sites. With its high-altitude vineyard, close proximity to the Pacific, and the assured hand of winemaker Ehren Jordan, it delivers the kind of precision, freshness, and depth that make Pinot Noir from exceptional coastal sites so compelling.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a vivid ruby-red color. The bouquet is layered and expressive, with notes of raspberry, dark cherry, dried blood orange, black tea, bay leaf, and a subtle leather undertone. The palate is fresh and focused, with a crisp, crunchy edge to the fruit that gives the wine energy and lift. At the same time, it has a silky, velvety texture and a beautifully complete shape, with enough structure and concentration to promise excellent aging potential over the coming years.

Viininvalmistus
Failla’s estate vineyard is planted in a cool, elevated site just 6 kilometers from the Pacific Ocean, creating ideal conditions for Pinot Noir ripening while preserving acidity and aromatic purity. The vineyard is farmed biodynamically and receives no irrigation, encouraging deep-rooted vines and naturally balanced fruit. After pressing and fermentation, the wine is aged for 11 months in French oak barrels, 20% of which are new, adding subtle complexity without overpowering the wine’s delicate varietal character.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Pinot Noir is a natural match for roast duck, grilled salmon, mushroom risotto, veal, or game birds such as quail and pheasant. It is best served slightly cool, around 14–16°C, and while it does not require decanting, 20–30 minutes of air can help open up its aromatic detail if served young.

Failla Wines was founded in 1998 by Ehren Jordan and his wife Anne-Marie, after years of hands-on experience in the wine trade and cellar work. Jordan’s background is unconventional but deeply rooted in practice, and that independent spirit still defines the winery today. Since acquiring their historic estate in 2004, Failla has become a respected name in California for Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Zinfandel, with Jordan especially admired for crafting wines of clarity, character, and a distinctly cool-climate style.
