Favia Cerro Sur Red Wine Napa Valley 2014

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this wine shows a dense ruby-purple core, hinting at its concentration and intensity. The nose is lifted and expressive, with notes of cherry, blueberry, black raspberry, vanilla, flint, flowers, and a subtle herbal freshness that recalls a walk through a sun-warmed garden. On the palate, it is bold yet finely balanced, with pure fruit framed by firm tannins, oak spice, and savory mineral nuances. The texture is structured and energetic, with impressive length and complexity. While already compelling, the 2014 vintage has the backbone to age gracefully for many years, gaining even more nuance with bottle time.

Viininvalmistus
The Cabernet Franc for Cerro Sur comes largely from 40-year-old vines planted on the upper slopes of Rancho Chimiles in the Vaca Mountains east of Napa, a site prized for its elevation, exposure, and distinctive terroir. The wine is blended with a smaller portion of Cabernet Sauvignon, undergoes a long skin maceration, and is aged for 22 months in French oak before being bottled unfiltered. Favia follows biodynamic principles in the vineyard and winery, with a strong emphasis on working in harmony with the land and preserving the character of the site.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an excellent match for grilled lamb, roast beef, venison, duck breast, or rich mushroom dishes, as well as hard aged cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for at least one hour if drinking now, especially to help the wine open up and soften its tannins.
