Forman Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 is one of Napa Valley’s great classic Cabernets: beautifully composed, deeply concentrated, and crafted with the kind of restraint that lets pedigree speak for itself. Blending Cabernet Sauvignon with small amounts of Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, and Malbec from Forman Vineyard, it delivers a Bordeaux-inspired profile with California energy, precision, and depth.

The wine shows a dark, deep purple hue in the glass, hinting at its richness and structure. On the nose, it opens with cassis, blackcurrant, sweet tobacco, leather, lavender, sage, and a subtle touch of eucalyptus, all layered with impressive aromatic lift. The palate is concentrated yet polished, with flavors of blueberry, blackberry, truffle, forest floor, and a faint anise note. It has a silky, elegant feel, supported by bright acidity and fine balance, giving the wine tension and precision. While already compelling, this vintage has the structure and freshness to age gracefully for 20–25 years or more.

Forman Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 is sourced entirely from Forman Vineyard in Napa Valley, where the grapes are harvested by hand and sorted within 30 minutes to preserve purity and freshness. The estate follows a traditional, Bordeaux-inspired approach, and the wine is matured for 20 months in new French oak deep in Ric Forman’s underground cellars, about ten levels below ground. The result is a wine of remarkable concentration, detail, and classic framing.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Cabernet is an ideal match for premium beef dishes, roasted lamb, venison, filet mignon, and richly flavored mushroom dishes. It also pairs beautifully with aged hard cheeses and dishes featuring truffle or earthy herbs. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for 1–2 hours if enjoying young to help the wine open up and show its full aromatic complexity.

Since beginning his winemaking career in 1966, he has helped shape the region through a series of pioneering moves, including early use of vintage dating on Merlot, fermenting white wines in oak barrels, and avoiding malolactic fermentation on Chardonnay decades before it became common in California. In 1983, he founded Forman Vineyard to focus on small-production Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon of the highest quality, and his wines are widely admired for their elegance, balance, and old-school craftsmanship.
