Gutzler Riesling Auslese Edelsüss 2019

Gutzler Riesling Auslese Edelsüss 2019 is a rare sweet expression from a producer better known for its precise dry reds and whites. Made in very limited quantities from late-harvested grapes, it combines generous sweetness with the vibrant acidity that makes great Riesling so compelling.

Makuprofiili
This Auslese has a rich, almost oily texture and a luminous golden hue that hints at its concentration. The nose is deeply aromatic, offering ripe peach, dried apricot, honey, mango and a delicate note of orange zest. On the palate, the sweetness is fully expressive but beautifully balanced by lively acidity. Flavors of yellow currant and fresh lemon juice add brightness and tension, giving the wine a polished, harmonious finish. It should age gracefully for several years, developing additional depth and complexity over time.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from the highly limestone-rich vineyards around Westhofen in Rheinhessen, where the soils lend the wine its mineral backbone and finesse. Harvested very late to achieve a higher natural sugar level, the fruit is selected for optimal ripeness before being vinified into a concentrated sweet Riesling that preserves freshness alongside richness.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Serve slightly chilled at around 8-10°C. It is excellent on its own after a good meal, but also pairs beautifully with strong, lightly salty cheeses such as blue cheese, as well as fruit-based desserts or pâté. Decanting is not necessary.

Best known for their focused dry wines, the estate has also earned a strong reputation for producing small amounts of outstanding Auslese, showing impressive skill in balancing sweetness, purity and acidity.
