Hartford Court Chardonnay Three Jacks (Dutton) 2018

Hartford Court Chardonnay Three Jacks 2018 is a beautifully expressive Russian River Valley Chardonnay that shows just how refined and layered this grape can be in the right hands. Sourced from the tiny Three Jacks Vineyard in the Green Valley area and crafted by winemaker Jeff Stewart, it combines generous fruit, striking minerality, and Burgundian-style restraint in a way that feels both luxurious and precise.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it likely shows a bright golden hue with plenty of life and concentration. The nose is vivid and complex, offering citrus, orange marmalade, baked apples, grated ginger, honeydew melon, and brioche. On the palate, it is full-bodied and textured, with flavors of ripe apple, pear, candied lemon peel, and chamomile, all carried by a pronounced mineral edge and beautifully balanced acidity. The wine is powerful yet focused, with enough structure and freshness to evolve gracefully over several years of cellaring.

Viininvalmistus
Three Jacks Vineyard is a small site in the heart of Green Valley within the Russian River Valley AVA, an area prized for its cool climate and ideal conditions for Chardonnay. The vineyard is carefully farmed by the Dutton family, with whom Hartford first began working in 1999. Grapes are hand-harvested and sorted, then fermented in French oak barrels before spending 13 months aging in French oak, including 15% new barrels. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration to preserve texture and purity.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Chardonnay is a natural match for roast chicken, lobster, seared scallops, creamy risotto, or rich dishes with mushrooms and spring vegetables. Serve it chilled, ideally around 10-12°C, to let the aromatics and layered texture shine. Decanting is not necessary, though a little time in the glass will help the wine open beautifully.
