Henri Richard Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru 2016 is a beautifully composed Burgundy from one of Gevrey-Chambertin’s most coveted vineyard sites. Made exclusively from Pinot Noir and shaped by a careful organic and biodynamic philosophy, it combines depth, precision, and finesse in a way that reflects both the Grand Cru terroir and the estate’s restrained, classic style. As part of the historic Côte de Nuits, Mazoyères-Chambertin is prized for wines that balance power with elegance, and this vintage captures that character with confidence.

In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby color with youthful vibrancy. The nose opens with ripe cherry, dark berries, violet, and subtle forest floor nuances, layered with gentle spice and a hint of earthy minerality.
The palate is rich and harmonious, with concentrated red and black fruit framed by fine, silky tannins and lively, well-integrated acidity. Notes of lingering spice, mature fruit, and a distinct chalky mineral edge add complexity and length. While already compelling in its youth, this Grand Cru has the structure and balance to age gracefully for many years, gaining further nuance and depth over time.
Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from the southern part of the Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru vineyard, where limestone and clay soils give the wine both structure and mineral tension. Domaine Henri Richard works with old vines and follows biodynamic principles in the vineyard, respecting natural rhythms and harvesting by hand to ensure only the best fruit is selected. Vinification is traditional and focused on purity: fermentation takes place spontaneously with native yeasts, followed by aging in French oak barrels with only a modest proportion of new oak, and the wine is left unfiltered to preserve texture, depth, and the clarity of its terroir.
Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an excellent match for refined dishes such as roast duck, pigeon, beef fillet, veal, game birds, or mushroom-based cuisine. It also pairs beautifully with truffled risotto or aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended if drinking young to help the wine open up and show its full aromatic range.
