Hubert Lignier Morey St. Denis Clos Baulet 1er Cru 2014 is a refined expression of Pinot Noir from one of Morey-Saint-Denis’ smallest premier cru sites. Drawn from a tiny, well-drained parcel of sandy and stony soils, it offers a beautifully poised style with sweet strawberry fruit, polish, and lift, while reflecting the quiet pedigree of this historic Burgundian domaine.

In the glass, this wine is typically a bright, translucent ruby, showing the clarity and finesse that define great Burgundy. The nose is delicate yet expressive, with aromas of wild strawberry, red cherry, crushed rose petals, subtle spice, and a hint of earthy minerality. On the palate, it is lithe and seductive rather than weighty, with silky texture, pure red fruit, and a finely balanced line of freshness that keeps everything taut and elegant.
The Clos Baulet’s small, stony site gives the wine impressive precision and energy, with just enough concentration to build length without losing delicacy. Clos Baulet is a very small premier cru vineyard in Morey-Saint-Denis, covering less than a hectare, with sandy, stony, and exceptionally well-drained soils that naturally encourage concentration and finesse. This wine pairs beautifully with dishes that complement its elegance and red-fruited profile, such as duck breast, roast chicken with morel sauce, quail, mushroom risotto, or lightly seared game birds. It also works well with earthy vegetarian dishes featuring mushrooms or root vegetables. Serve at 15–17°C, and decant briefly if the wine is young or just after opening; older bottles may only need a gentle splash or no decanting at all.

Hubert Lignier is a family domaine with roots dating back to 1880, when Jacques Lignier first acquired vineyards in Morey-Saint-Denis in the heart of the Côte de Nuits. Now run by Hubert Lignier and his son Laurent, the estate farms around nine hectares across Bourgogne, village, premier cru, and grand cru sites, producing wines known for depth, structure, and remarkable aging potential. The domaine has long been respected in the region for its traditional style, environmental care, and ability to let each vineyard express its own distinct character.
