Krug 1988

Krug Vintage 1988 is a remarkable expression of one of Champagne’s most celebrated houses, crafted from a carefully selected blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier. Born from a cool, dry growing season, this vintage is admired for its precision, balance, and depth, making it a standout among Krug’s prestige cuvées and a wine of real historical significance.

In the glass, Krug 1988 shows a refined golden hue with a persistent, elegant mousse. The nose is richly layered, opening with mature orchard and stone fruits, followed by notes of spice, toasted brioche, roasted nuts, and a subtle mineral edge. On the palate, it is full-bodied and intensely structured, yet carried by a lively, persistent freshness that keeps the wine poised and energetic. Flavours of ripe fruit, pastry, honey, and gentle oxidative complexity unfold in a long, nuanced finish. This is a champagne with excellent ageing potential, though it already offers impressive harmony and depth.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes for Krug 1988 were sourced from some of Champagne’s finest vineyards, chosen for their ability to deliver concentration, acidity, and aromatic complexity in a vintage shaped by cool, dry conditions. The wine was then aged in Krug’s cellars for more than ten years, allowing time for the development of finesse, texture, and the house’s signature complexity through meticulous vinification and extended maturation.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Best enjoyed with refined dishes such as lobster, scallops, roasted poultry, truffled risotto, or aged hard cheeses. Serve chilled at around 8-10°C, and consider brief decanting if desired to help the wine fully раскры its layered aromatics and complex secondary notes.
