Krug 2008 Gaveæske

Krug Vintage 2008 is a remarkable expression of one exceptional harvest, crafted to capture the singular character of the year in true Krug style. Aged for over a decade in Krug’s cellars and built from the house’s classic trio of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, it delivers depth, precision, and unmistakable prestige. Like all Krug Vintage cuvées, it is entirely unique and made to reflect the individuality of the vintage rather than a fixed house recipe.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows an intense, radiant golden hue that immediately signals maturity and concentration. The nose is expressive and layered, unfolding with patinated aromas of honey, liquorice, menthol, orange peel, and grapefruit. On the palate, the wine is lively, intense, and beautifully harmonious, with a vibrant tension that gives shape to its generous character. Notes of quince, candied fruits, citrus, yellow kiwi, star fruit, honey, apple tart, butter biscuits, orange zest, peony, and fennel are woven together with floral and menthol nuances. The finish is long and balanced, with excellent ageing potential for those wishing to cellar it further.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Champagne pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as lobster, scallops, roast poultry, truffle risotto, or rich seafood preparations, as well as aged hard cheeses. Serve chilled at around 10-12°C to allow its complexity to fully open. Decanting is not usually necessary, but a brief airing in the glass can help release its layered aromatics.
