Krug Clos du Mesnil 2006 is an exceptionally rare Blanc de Blancs Champagne, crafted from Chardonnay grown in a single, walled parcel in the heart of Mesnil-sur-Oger. Its singular origin and single-vintage expression make it one of Krug’s most distinctive cuvées, celebrating the precision, depth, and brilliance that this iconic chalk terroir can deliver. First created in 1979, Clos du Mesnil stands as a landmark in Champagne for its unusually focused, parcel-specific approach.

In the glass, it shows an intense golden hue, hinting at both richness and maturity. The nose is beautifully layered with aromas of ripe wheat, toffee apple, caramel, mature citrus, and a subtle touch of toasted nuts, giving it a warm yet refined aromatic profile. On the palate, it opens with remarkable generosity and breadth, unfolding through notes of brown sugar, candied ginger, and pecan before moving into bright citrus fruit and a wave of freshness. The finish is long, elegant, and precise. This is a Champagne with excellent aging potential, capable of developing even more complexity over time while retaining its striking balance and energy.

Viininvalmistus
Clos du Mesnil comes from a 1.84-hectare vineyard in Mesnil-sur-Oger, one of Champagne’s most celebrated villages for Chardonnay, where chalk-rich soils help shape the wine’s tension, purity, and mineral finesse. The fruit is harvested from this single parcel in a single vintage, preserving the exact character of the site and the growing year. Krug’s vinification approach is designed to emphasize expression, balance, and longevity, resulting in a Champagne that is both powerful and extraordinarily refined.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Champagne pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as lobster, scallops, turbot, roast poultry, or aged Parmesan, as well as dishes with subtle nutty or citrus-driven accents. Serve chilled at around 10–12°C to allow its layered aromas to open fully. Decanting is generally not necessary, but a brief aeration in the glass can help reveal its full aromatic complexity.
