Krug Clos Du Mesnil 2009 Gaveæske

Krug Clos du Mesnil 2009 is an exceptionally rare Blanc de Blancs Champagne, made entirely from Chardonnay grown in a single 1.84-hectare walled parcel in the heart of Mesnil-sur-Oger. First created in 1979, it stands as a bold expression of terroir and a remarkable departure from the traditional blending style of Champagne.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a deep golden hue, hinting at both richness and depth. The bouquet is complex and expressive, with aromas of ripe apple, toffee, caramel, mature citrus, warm wheat, and a delicate thread of toasted nuts. On the palate, it opens with striking generosity and breadth. Notes of brown sugar, candied ginger, and pecan give way to vivid citrus freshness, building toward a very long, elegant finish. While already beautifully expressive, this is a Champagne with the structure and precision to age gracefully for many years.

Viininvalmistus
Clos du Mesnil comes from a tiny enclosed vineyard in Mesnil-sur-Oger, one of Champagne’s most celebrated Chardonnay villages, where chalky soils help produce wines of remarkable tension, purity, and finesse. The fruit is harvested by hand from this single parcel in a single vintage, and Krug vinifies it separately to preserve its distinct identity and character.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Best served chilled at around 10–12°C, this Champagne pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as lobster, scallops, roast poulter, truffle dishes, or aged hard cheeses. Decanting is not usually necessary, but allowing it a little time in the glass can help раскрыve its full aromatic complexity.
