Krug Grande Cuvée 169ème Édition

Krug Grande Cuvée 169ème Édition is a benchmark prestige Champagne, created to express the very best of Krug’s style every year, regardless of vintage variation. Built from a masterful blend of wines from multiple years and all three classic Champagne grapes, it combines remarkable richness, precision, and complexity in a way that only Krug can achieve. First conceived in 1843 by Joseph Krug, it remains one of Champagne’s most iconic non-vintage cuvées.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a beautiful pale golden color with a fine, lively mousse that immediately signals elegance. The nose is wonderfully layered, offering floral notes alongside ripe dried citrus, marzipan, and gingerbread, with a subtle warmth that unfolds with time in the glass. The palate is generous and deeply textured, with flavors of hazelnut, nougat, citrus jelly, almonds, brioche, and honey, all carried by a precise, vibrant structure. Despite its richness, the wine remains beautifully balanced and poised, with excellent aging potential thanks to its depth and complexity.

Viininvalmistus
Krug Grande Cuvée is crafted from a carefully selected blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Meunier sourced from multiple vintages, allowing Krug to create a Champagne with consistent signature character rather than a single-vintage expression. The wines are matured for around seven years in Krug’s cellars, where they gain their distinctive elegance, texture, and complexity. This multi-vintage blending approach is the heart of the cuvée’s identity and what gives it its remarkable depth and harmony.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Champagne pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as lobster, scallops, truffled poultry, aged Comté, or delicate dishes featuring hazelnut and citrus. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C to allow its aromas and texture to fully express themselves. Decanting is generally not necessary, but a short time in the glass can help reveal its many layers.
