Lafite Rothschild 2003 Magnum

Château Lafite Rothschild 2003 Magnum is a remarkable expression of one of Bordeaux’s most celebrated First Growth estates, presented here in an impressive magnum format that supports long, graceful evolution. The 2003 vintage produced a notably ripe and concentrated wine, with a rich, atypical style that some critics have likened to a modern-day version of the estate’s legendary 1959. Crafted from a blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, it is a powerful and highly collectible wine from a very limited production year.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine shows a dense purple color that signals its depth and concentration. The nose is layered with classic Lafite aromas of graphite, blackcurrant, smoke, melted licorice, and flowers, all wrapped in a luxurious, ripe profile. On the palate, it is sumptuous and intense, combining opulence, purity, and impressive viscosity with a firm tannic backbone. Sweet, supple fruit gives the wine a softer feel than many classic Lafites, though its structure suggests excellent longevity. This is a wine with serious aging potential, especially in magnum, and it should continue to develop complexity for decades.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Best enjoyed with refined, flavorful dishes such as roast lamb, beef tenderloin, venison, truffle-based preparations, or aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16-18°C, and consider decanting for 1-2 hours if drinking now to allow the aromatics and structure to open gradually.
