Lucien le Moine’s 2009 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses is a beautifully poised Pinot Noir from one of Burgundy’s most admired lieux-dits. Sourced from a site famed for its perfume, finesse, and almost weightless elegance, this wine captures the sensual side of Chambolle-Musigny while still carrying impressive depth and structure. Les Amoureuses has long been regarded as one of the great terroirs of the Côte de Nuits, and in a strong vintage like 2009, it shows both charm and seriousness in equal measure.
Makuprofiili
In the glass, this wine is typically a translucent ruby with the kind of luminous color that hints at delicacy rather than density. The nose is expressive and layered, opening with red cherry, wild strawberry, rose petals, and subtle spice, followed by more nuanced notes of forest floor, tea leaf, and finely judged oak. On the palate, it is ethereal yet substantial, with silky tannins, lifted acidity, and a graceful core of ripe red fruit that unfolds slowly rather than all at once.
The style is cerebral and detailed, rewarding patience and attention as it evolves in the glass. While already showing the aromatic complexity expected from Les Amoureuses, it also has the structure to age beautifully, with the potential to develop greater nuance and secondary notes over time. Robert Parker noted an anticipated maturity window of 2019–2029, and the wine’s balance suggests it can continue to offer pleasure over that period and beyond, depending on storage.
Viininvalmistus
Les Amoureuses is a prized Premier Cru site in Chambolle-Musigny, where limestone-rich soils and an ideal Côte de Nuits exposure help Pinot Noir achieve its trademark perfume and finesse. Lucien le Moine works in a highly hands-on manner, selecting top parcels from carefully chosen growers and then taking over the vinification and élevage in its Beaune cellar. The wines are aged on the lees in new, classic Burgundian oak barrels, a method that adds texture and depth while preserving the identity of the terroir. Bottling is done manually, directly from barrel and without filtration.
Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a wine that shines with elegant dishes such as roasted duck breast, pigeon, quail, veal tenderloin, or mushroom-based cuisine like truffle risotto and wild mushroom tart. It also pairs beautifully with aged cheeses that won’t overwhelm its finesse, such as Comté or Époisses served carefully. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider a gentle decant if opening young or after long cellar aging; for a mature bottle like this, a short decant or even simply allowing it to breathe in the glass may be enough.
Tuottaja
Lucien le Moine was founded in 1999 by Rotem and Mounir Saouma and quickly became one of Burgundy’s most talked-about and sought-after producers. Known for their uncompromising approach and meticulous cellar work, the pair built their reputation by focusing exclusively on top 1er Cru and Grand Cru vineyards from select growers across Burgundy.
