Lucien le Moine Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru 2010 is a finely built Burgundy from one of the Côte de Nuits’ most coveted Grand Cru vineyards. Made from Pinot Noir and crafted in Lucien le Moine’s highly hands-on style, it combines precision, depth, and a distinctly layered personality. Clos Saint-Denis is known for producing wines of elegance and quiet power, and this 2010 shows why the site has long been admired for its complexity and long aging potential.

In the glass, this Grand Cru would be expected to show a deep ruby hue with subtle garnet evolution at the rim, reflecting both its age and structure. The nose is likely to be nuanced and evolving, with dark cherry, red berries, forest floor, spice, and a touch of oak influence, alongside the savoury, earthy character that often defines mature Burgundy. On the palate, the wine is structured, focused, and powerful, with a firm backbone that gives it impressive presence. Compared to some of the more plush Grand Crus of Burgundy, Clos Saint-Denis often feels more restrained and brooding in youth, gradually opening to reveal finesse, mineral detail, and a long, persistent finish. The 2010 vintage has the concentration and balance to continue aging gracefully, with the potential to gain further complexity over time.

Viininvalmistus
Clos Saint-Denis sits in the Grand Cru zone of Morey-Saint-Denis, where limestone-rich soils and a cool Burgundian climate help Pinot Noir develop tension, perfume, and length. Lucien le Moine works with top-tier parcels and follows a minimal-intervention approach in the cellar, allowing each vineyard’s character to remain front and center. The wines are aged on the lees in new Burgundian oak barrels, then bottled without filtration, a method that adds texture and preserves detail.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as duck breast, roast quail, venison, mushroom risotto, or lightly truffled poultry. It is best served at around 16–18°C. A gentle decant is recommended, especially given the wine’s structure and the producer’s style, to allow the aromatics and palate to open fully.

Lucien le Moine was founded in 1999 by Rotem and Mounir Saouma, a husband-and-wife team with a deep passion for Burgundy and its great Chardonnay and Pinot Noir sites. Rather than owning many vineyards in Burgundy, they built their reputation by sourcing exceptional fruit from selected Grand Cru and Premier Cru parcels and vinifying the wines themselves in Beaune. Their uncompromising approach, use of new oak, and commitment to bottling without filtration have made Lucien le Moine one of the most distinctive and respected producers in the region.
