Montecastro Reserva 2017

Montecastro Reserva 2017 is a polished Ribera del Duero red made from 100% Tempranillo, showcasing the concentration and elegance that have made this region so highly regarded. Carefully hand-harvested and aged for at least 18 months in French oak, it balances ripe fruit, spice, and structure with impressive finesse. As a Reserva from one of Spain’s most respected modern producers, it reflects both tradition and precision.

Makuprofiili
Deep ruby in the glass, this Reserva offers an inviting aromatic profile of ripe cherries, blackcurrants, liquorice, cedar, and a subtle hint of tobacco. French oak aging adds layers of vanilla, toasted spice, and a faint smoky edge, giving the wine extra depth without overpowering the fruit. On the palate, it is full-bodied and beautifully balanced, with soft, ripe tannins and a long, satisfying finish. The structure suggests good cellaring potential, and while it is ready to enjoy now, it should continue to develop complexity over the next several years.

Viininvalmistus
Montecastro Reserva 2017 comes from vineyards in Castilla y León with excellent sun exposure and a terroir well suited to Tempranillo, allowing the grapes to reach optimal ripeness. The fruit is carefully hand-picked at maturity to preserve quality and ensure selection in the vineyard. After harvest, the wine undergoes an extended fermentation and maceration to extract colour, flavour, and structure, before aging for a minimum of 18 months in French oak barrels.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a natural match for grilled or roasted red meats, lamb, game, and mature hard cheeses. Serve it slightly below room temperature, ideally around 16–18°C, and decant for at least one hour before drinking to allow the bouquet and flavours to open fully.
