La Dame de Montrose is the refined second wine of Château Montrose, offered here as a rare six-bottle wooden case featuring the 2011 through 2016 vintages. Crafted with the same exacting standards as the estate’s Grand Vin, it comes from younger vines and captures the elegance, depth and Saint-Estèphe character that have made Montrose one of Bordeaux’s most respected names.

Makuprofiili
La Dame de Montrose typically shows a deep garnet color with youthful purple reflections in the younger vintages and a more evolved ruby-garnet tone in the older years. The bouquet is layered and precise, opening with blackcurrant, cassis and dark cherry, then unfolding into notes of cedar, graphite, earth, truffle, tobacco and subtle spice. On the palate, the wine is medium- to full-bodied with a firm, polished structure, supple tannins and impressive freshness. The Cabernet Sauvignon gives it backbone and mineral drive, while Merlot adds roundness and a smoother, more generous mid-palate. It can drink beautifully now with decanting, but the stronger vintages in this set have the concentration to age gracefully for several more years.

Viininvalmistus
The wine comes from Château Montrose’s 95-hectare estate in Saint-Estèphe, where gravelly soils over clay provide ideal conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon, aided by the clay’s ability to retain moisture in warm and dry periods. The vineyard is managed parcel by parcel, with hand harvesting, double sorting, gentle pressing and a 25-day temperature-controlled maceration. The wine is then matured for around 12 months in oak barrels, with roughly 30% new wood, to preserve purity while adding depth and texture.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an excellent match for roasted lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, game birds and slow-cooked dishes with mushrooms or herbs. It also pairs well with hard cheeses such as Comté or aged Manchego. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant the younger bottles for 1–2 hours to allow the aromatics and tannins to open; the older vintages may only need a shorter decant.

Tuottaja
Château Montrose is one of the great names of Saint-Estèphe and sits firmly among Bordeaux’s elite, classified as a 2ème Cru Classé in the 1855 classification. Founded in the late 18th century after being separated from Château Calon-Ségur, the estate is known for its powerful, age-worthy wines and for a remarkable vineyard that remains a single continuous block around the château. In recent years, the property has also stood out for its strong commitment to sustainability, including major investments in solar energy and environmentally responsible vineyard work.
