Paul Jaboulet Aîné Crozes-Hermitage Domaine de Thalabert 2015 is a benchmark Syrah from one of the oldest and most respected estates in the Crozes-Hermitage appellation. Sourced entirely from the historic Domaine de Thalabert vineyard, this wine combines concentration, depth, and a distinctly Rhône-style savory character, with roots stretching back to the estate’s ownership by Paul Jaboulet Aîné since 1834.

Makuprofiili
Deep and dark in the glass, this Crozes-Hermitage shows a dense ruby-black color that hints at its power and structure. The nose is richly layered, opening with morello cherry, forest berries, black olives, and English licorice, followed by subtle notes of cedar, spice, and crushed stone. On the palate, it is full-bodied and impressively complex, with flavors of wild plum, dark berries, licorice, tar, and savory mineral tones. Ripe tannins and a long, persistent finish give the wine excellent balance and serious aging potential; in a strong vintage like 2015, it can evolve beautifully over many years.

Viininvalmistus
The Domaine de Thalabert is the oldest estate in the Crozes-Hermitage appellation, with 45 hectares of old Syrah vines aged between 40 and 60 years. The site’s mature vines naturally limit yields to around 25–30 hl/ha, helping produce concentrated fruit with depth and intensity. Grapes are hand-harvested and transported in small 25 kg crates to protect freshness and prevent oxidation. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation and around one year of aging in oak barrels.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine is a natural match for lamb, game, or beef, especially when prepared with onions, garlic, and wild mushrooms. Serve it at around 16–18°C to bring out its aromatic complexity and structure, and consider decanting for at least an hour if drinking young to allow the savory and spicy notes to open fully.

Paul Jaboulet Aîné is one of the great historic names of the Rhône Valley, long associated with some of the region’s finest Syrah-based wines. After a difficult period following Gérard Jaboulet’s death in the late 1990s, the estate was acquired by the Frey family in 2006 and returned to the top tier of Rhône producers under the leadership of Caroline Frey. A trained oenologist and meticulous manager, she has overseen extensive vineyard renovation, expansion of the estate’s holdings, and a major transition to organic farming, with all Jaboulet domaine wines certified organic from the 2016 vintage onward.
