Peter Michael Au Paradis Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 is a polished, powerful Napa Valley red from one of Oakville’s most prized vineyard sites. Sourced from the heart of the Oakville AVA and crafted primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon with a touch of Cabernet Franc, it combines ripe fruit, structure, and remarkable complexity. The wine is aged in French oak and built for serious cellaring, with the kind of depth that has made Peter Michael one of California’s most admired names.

In the glass, the wine shows a deep, concentrated ruby-purple color that hints at its richness. The nose is layered and expressive, with aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, lavender, tobacco, graphite, pine needles, and sage, unfolding with time in the glass. On the palate, it is full-bodied and tightly structured, with dark cherry, mocha, cinnamon, leather, smoke, and vanilla carrying through a long, polished finish. The oak is well integrated, giving the wine both sweetness and frame without overwhelming the fruit. While already impressive, Au Paradis 2018 has the balance and tannic backbone to age gracefully for 15–20 years or more under proper cellar conditions.

Au Paradis is located in the center of Oakville AVA, one of Napa Valley’s most celebrated terroirs, where warm days, cool evenings, and well-draining soils create ideal conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyard is planted to a minimum of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, with the remainder typically Cabernet Franc, and the fruit is carefully harvested to preserve concentration and aromatic precision. The wine spends 18 months in French oak barrels, a élevage that adds texture, spice, and refinement while supporting the vineyard’s natural power and freshness.

This is a wine that shines alongside richly flavored dishes such as grilled ribeye, lamb chops, braised short ribs, or roast venison. It also pairs beautifully with aged cheddar, Comté, or truffled dishes that can match its depth and structure. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for at least 1–2 hours if opening now; if you have patience, a few more years in the cellar will reward you with even greater harmony.
