Pétrus 1989

Pétrus 1989 is one of the most sought-after wines from Pomerol, and a true bucket-list bottle for serious collectors. Made entirely from Merlot and produced in extremely limited quantities, it stands apart from Bordeaux’s more famous classified growths with its uncompromising focus, cult status, and unmistakable sense of luxury. Historically, Pétrus rose to prominence in the mid-20th century and has since become one of the world’s benchmark wines.

1989 is a remarkably opulent and concentrated Pétrus, showing deep, saturated colour and a tightly knit aromatic profile. Expect a richly layered nose with dark plum, blackberry, exotic spice, truffle, cocoa, and warm earthy notes, all framed by a velvety, youthful intensity. On the palate, it is full-bodied, powerful, and beautifully balanced, with lush Merlot fruit, fine-grained tannins, and a seamless, almost creamy texture. The wine’s depth and harmony suggest exceptional longevity, and while already magnificent, it has the structure to continue evolving gracefully for many years.

Viininvalmistus
Pétrus is rooted in the clay-rich soils of Pomerol, on Bordeaux’s Right Bank, a terroir especially well suited to Merlot. The estate is known for its very old vines, meticulous vineyard work, and extremely selective harvesting, all aimed at preserving purity and concentration. Vinification is carried out with great precision to capture the estate’s signature depth, finesse, and texture.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Best enjoyed with refined dishes such as roasted lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, truffle risotto, or aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant carefully if the bottle has significant age—ideally for a short period, just enough to let the wine open without losing its delicate complexity.
