Philippe Pacalet’s Gevrey-Chambertin 2015 is a vivid expression of Pinot Noir from one of Burgundy’s most admired villages. Built on purity, structure, and bright red-fruit character, it shows the elegant, hands-off style that has made Pacalet a standout name among modern Burgundy producers.

In the glass, this Gevrey-Chambertin typically shows a translucent ruby hue, reflecting the delicacy of Pinot Noir rather than heavy extraction. The nose is lively and fresh, with notes of wild strawberry, red cherry, and a subtle earthy undertone that adds depth and authenticity. On the palate, the wine is crunchy and precise, with good volume and a gentle, refined grip. Layers of blackberry and raspberry emerge toward the rounded finish, giving it both energy and charm. It is approachable now, though it should continue to develop complexity over the next several years, gaining more nuance and silkiness with time.

Sourced from Gevrey-Chambertin in Bourgogne, this wine reflects the classic limestone-and-clay terroir that helps give Pinot Noir its structure, freshness, and depth. Philippe Pacalet is known for working with minimal intervention, aiming to preserve the character of the vineyard rather than impose a heavy winemaking style. The wine is crafted with a natural approach to vinification, and in this vintage it was taken directly from tank, highlighting purity, transparency, and immediate expression.

This wine pairs beautifully with roast duck, grilled salmon, mushroom dishes, coq au vin, and finely prepared game birds. It also works well with earthy vegetarian dishes such as lentil stew or wild mushroom risotto. Serve at 15–17°C, and consider a short decant if opening молод?
