Pico Maccario Barolo DOCG 2020 is a contemporary and approachable expression of one of Italy’s most celebrated wines. Crafted with respect for tradition and a focus on finesse, it offers the classic character of Barolo in a style that is elegant, balanced, and immediately inviting.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this Barolo shows a deep ruby-red colour, reflecting its youthful energy and concentration. The nose opens with classic Nebbiolo aromatics of violet, dried rose petals, liquorice, and red berries, followed by more nuanced layers of truffle, leather, and dried spice with a little air. On the palate, it is structured yet refined, with tannins that are present but silky, supported by lively acidity and a long, mineral-driven finish. The wine already shows harmony in its youth, but it also has the backbone to develop beautifully over time, gaining further complexity with cellaring.

Viininvalmistus
The wine comes from selected parcels in the heart of the Barolo zone, where Nebbiolo vines grow in calcareous clay soils with excellent south and south-west exposure. The grapes are harvested by hand and vinified gently to preserve the grape’s delicate aromatic profile and maintain a balanced tannic structure. After fermentation, the wine is aged for around 24 months in large Slavonian oak casks, allowing fruit and oak to integrate without overpowering the wine’s natural expression, before further bottle ageing ahead of release.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Barolo is an excellent match for rich, savoury dishes such as braised beef, osso buco, game, truffle pasta, mushroom risotto, and aged cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C. Decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended, especially in its youth, to allow the aromas and structure to खुल fully.
