Pintia 2020

Pintia 2020 is a bold, intensely flavored Tempranillo from Toro, created by the legendary Vega Sicilia group with the ambition to showcase the region’s full potential. Aged for 12–15 months in French and American oak, it combines deep fruit, structure, and complexity in a wine that has quickly become one of the standout names in the area.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, Pintia 2020 shows a deep ruby-red color that hints at its concentration and power. The nose is complex and layered, opening with dark forest berries before unfolding into notes of vanilla, leather, and tobacco from oak maturation. On the palate, it is full-bodied and richly textured, with impressive intensity, ripe dark fruit, and a firm backbone that gives the wine real presence. The oak influence adds spice and depth without overshadowing the fruit, while the finish is long and persistent. This is a wine with excellent aging potential and should develop additional nuance over the next several years.

Viininvalmistus
Pintia comes from Toro in Castilla y León, a region known for its demanding climate, low rainfall, and naturally low-yielding vineyards, which help produce wines of remarkable concentration. The estate was established by Bodegas Vega Sicilia after recognizing the area’s potential, and the careful work in the vineyard, combined with sensitive winemaking by Xavier Ausás López de Castro, results in a wine marked by intensity, character, and depth. After harvest, the wine is matured for 12–15 months in a mix of French and American oak barrels.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Pintia 2020 pairs beautifully with grilled red meats, braised short ribs, roasted lamb, game, and richly flavored dishes such as beef stew or mushroom risotto. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for at least an hour to allow the wine to open and show its full aromatic complexity.

The estate was created in Toro with the goal of unlocking the region’s potential, and from its first vintage in 2001 it quickly established itself among the top producers in the area. Today, Pintia is widely respected for its powerful, expressive wines and for consistently elevating the reputation of Toro.
