Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill 2008

Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill 2008 is one of Champagne’s most distinguished prestige cuvées, created as a tribute to Sir Winston Churchill, a famously loyal admirer of the house. Crafted from a Pinot Noir-led blend with Chardonnay, it combines power, structure, and finesse, while the exceptional 2008 vintage brings remarkable precision and freshness.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a beautiful golden hue with a fine, persistent mousse. The nose is elegant and layered, offering ripe orchard fruit, citrus, toasted brioche, and subtle nutty undertones, all wrapped in a refined mineral edge. On the palate, it is complex and harmonious, with generous fruit balanced by vibrant acidity and a mature, lightly toasty character. The Pinot Noir gives depth and structure, while the Chardonnay lends brightness and lift. This is a Champagne with excellent aging potential, and it will continue to develop even greater complexity over time.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes are sourced from some of the finest sites in Champagne, particularly in Montagne de Reims and Côte des Blancs, where chalk-rich soils and a cool climate help preserve freshness and concentration. Harvesting is selective, focusing on the best parcels for this prestige cuvée, and the wine is vinified with slow fermentation before extended maturation in Pol Roger’s traditional cellars. It is then aged for a minimum of 10 years on the lees, allowing it to gain depth, texture, and remarkable aromatic complexity.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Champagne is superb as an aperitif, but it also pairs beautifully with oysters, lobster, scallops, grilled fish, and refined poultry dishes. It works especially well with aged hard cheeses as well. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C, and while decanting is not usually necessary for Champagne, allowing it a few minutes in the glass can help the aromas open further.
