Porte Rouge Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2022 is a compelling example of why Domaine Porte Rouge is considered one of the rising names in the appellation. This is the estate’s Cuvée Tradition, crafted in a classic style that balances depth, elegance, and the unmistakable character of southern Rhône terroir. Rooted in one of France’s most historic red wine regions, it offers a poised and expressive take on Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this is a deep, dark red wine that hints at its concentration and ripeness. The nose is beautifully expressive, opening with garrigue, lavender, and dried herbs before moving into layers of black cherry, blackberry, and a subtle touch of chocolate. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and richly textured, yet maintains a refined, almost elegant feel for the appellation. The dark fruit is ripe and layered, supported by Mediterranean herb notes and a savoury undertone that gives the wine real personality. It has the structure to develop gracefully in bottle for around 10 years from vintage, though it can also be enjoyed now with proper decanting.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes for this wine come from the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation in the southern Rhône, where warm conditions and stony soils help produce wines with power, ripeness, and aromatic complexity. The blend is led by Grenache, supported by Syrah, Mourvèdre, and a small amount of Cinsault. All grapes are harvested by hand, and the cellar work is carried out with minimal intervention to preserve the wine’s natural character. After fermentation, the wine matures for 24 months in large, old oak casks before bottling.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, grilled beef, game dishes, duck, and hearty Mediterranean cuisine with herbs and spices. It also works well with mushroom dishes and mature hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decanting is recommended if opening now, as it will help the wine show its aromatic complexity and soften its youthful structure.
